I am interested in how violence has shaped the landscape of the American West. I traveled to the Nevada Test Site to experience a place first-hand that epitomizes the notion of abstract war.Through conceptual and emotional mapping processes I aim to explore connections between past and present military activity, bomb testing and other hazards of land use. I am continuing to examine the hidden narrative in everyday graphic signs, their association to violence, and their relationship to actual place. What follows are images from May 2008, map research, sound, video, and photograph, visits to actual sites: Nevada Test Site, mining sites (some ghost towns), farming communities, and Las Vegas.
